After a standout performance at Glastonbury earlier this year and in search of her highest charting album to date, one of the UK’s finest voices, Bristol’s very own Elles Bailey, has released her stunning new album Beneath The Neon Glow.
Elles will also be doing a UK In-Store tour to celebrate the album’s release in August and will be at Rough Trade, 3 New Bridewell, Nelson Street, Bristol, today (Thursday, 15 August). The Bristol store will present an in-store live performance and signing from Elles at 7pm, with doors opening at 6pm.
Elles and her top-tier band will also be touring with the new album in Autumn 2024, including a show at Bristol’s SWX on October 26; Gloucester Guildhall, October 12, and Exeter Phoenix on October 24. This follows a jam-packed festival season in the UK and Europe.
Produced by Dan Weller and recorded with her exceptional live band, the album, and Elles’ fourth, delves into the many facets of love with lyrically vulnerable and brutally honest songwriting. Elles delves into the depths of heartbreak, the resilience of friendship, and the enduring power of love that spans a lifetime. From the fleeting moments to the love that withstands the test of time.
It has gained widespread acclaim. Described as “brilliant” by the Daily Star and with RNR proclaiming the record as “perhaps a career best.” With numerous awards already to her name, it's clear this artist's star continues to ascend.
Currently, the album is in the top five midweek chart position between Charlie XCX and Taylor Swift. The next few days will see if ‘Beneath The Neon Glow will land Elles her first top ten hit.
Elles Bailey has established herself as a favourite act of the UK Americana Music Association gathering a string of awards since 2020. She started writing the songs for what would become her fourth album last summer. Some 40 compositions, a Nashville writing trip and recording session in Devon later, Bailey – backed in the studio by her live band – had distilled the selections down to 10 tracks
The last song written for the album was ‘Enjoy The Ride’ which has been released as the first single. Bailey says of the autobiographical lyric: “Very early on in my career a friend told me that this musical path I had chosen doesn’t have a destination, it’s a journey, a very tough journey and it’s so important to enjoy the journey”.
